Birch, Jr., former Chief Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Venita later accepted a position with Glankler Brown, a Memphis law firm. The firm's members voted Venita as its first African-American female partner in 2006. As humans, we are not perfect, and we all have bad days; however, litigants and lawyers should never see those bad days in court. The bench is no place to satisfy your ego or your biases. The bench belongs to the citizens, and it is the judge's duty to serve them.
